Brianna Meets Mize

940 Words
Brianna had decided the church would be the haven. The other three witches would need somewhere to run someday, and if not to her, the church. Knowing it could be her home for the next two years, made Brianna confident she could beacon them there. Whenever they were ready. Drawing sigils on the trees surrounding the church, Brianna knew they’d be blind to a mundane eye. But it would act as a tether to her fellow witches. And hopefully, pull them close when they were out of choices. As she was finishing up, Brianna felt a presence before her and assumed before she felt who it was, “Dude you are worrisome-.” Turning Brianna was surprised to find not Kase, but someone else. He was just as handsome; some would argue more so. But Brianna didn’t find him nearly as appealing. While Kase was all dark chocolate and mysterious, this man seemed dipped in butter scotch perfect.  His body seemed to glow with mischief, his pink lips and silky black hair pulled back in a pony hinted at a more Spanish descent. He stood in a black trench coat, a leather vest with no shirt. And like Kase he had old scar wounds that appeared appetizing as they seemed to decorate his body. But his didn’t do the same things on him that Kase’s did to her. But there was no mistaking the eyes. The bright red and aura did remind her of Kase sat low under a small top hat decorated in bones. But this god wasn’t Kase, he was just of relation. “Well my brother’s going to be hurt you don’t enjoy his company.” Grinning, the sexy god in front of Brianna teased, “But I can see why he enjoys yours.” Brianna dropped her chalk as she dusted her hands casually, “Mizè, Loa of Misery, how can I help you?” Mizè’s chin went up pleasantly shocked, his pinks lips curling up into a small smile, “You know who I am?” Brianna smiled even though it was far from genuine and didn’t meet her eyes. “I’m getting better with names and faces. But you didn’t answer my question,” Mizè’s gaze came up to meet Brianna’s as he shrugged a shoulder casually. He stalked around looking bored, “Well when my brother admitted to having an admiration to you, I had to come and meet you for myself.” Turning to look over his shoulder at her, the powerful being admitted flirtatiously, “I can now share his sentiments.” Brianna c****d an eyebrow, “And that was all you wanted, to come and gawk like a fanboy? Great, you can go wank somewhere else.” Laughing the god forced himself to relax, “I was also wanting to know if maybe we could strike a deal.” Shrugging Brianna waved her hand, “I doubt it, but I’ll listen.” Holding out his hand, a book was in his hand now. This one was different from Kase’s as well. A dark grey, filled with miserable souls all festering in an eternity worth of misery. The white skull on the front seemed bleached with black jewels nestled in the eyes. A black mamba slithering out of its mouth, as the spine had another going up the side. Mizè came forward a little as he offered, “I help you with your current situation, you sign your name over to me. And with my power you can set your sights on other endeavors.” Brianna hummed as if considering it, but then she blandly snipped, “Another book, another steep cost. And just why do you think I’d agree to you?” Mizè shrugged as he playfully jibbed, “I figured maybe you’d prefer a deal with me over my baby brother.” Brianna giggled and then confidently said, “I prefer a deal with no one. I’m handling this on my own.” Stepping forward, Mizè’s red eyes darkened dangerously at the brush off. “Careful little mambo. You never know when you might need a Loa on your side.” Nodding, Brianna bowed her head, “I apologize if you took offense to my words, but if this is a proposition, I decline respectfully.” Righting herself, Brianna smiled sweetly, “Like I said, I’m handling it on my own.” Mizè frowned being brushed off and as his eyes glowed unpleasantly, his power spiked knocking the trees around them down. “You sure about that?” Mizè questioned smugly as Brianna looked around shocked. In that moment her chest glowed as her eyes seemed to also give a spark. Pulling her staff from the small of her back, Brianna swung the large wooden stick as it expanded. Hitting the ground, the power from her bleed into the earth and the trees knocked down regrew and regrew stronger. Mizè was left seething as he watched the chalk marks Brianna make glow even brighter on the regrown trees. “Positive.” She assured him when his red eyes snapped back to her. “Like I said, I’m handling it on my own. But thank you so much for the offer.” And before Mizè could protest, the glowing white sigils burned so bright they hurt his eyes and he was banished from the mambo’s land.
