Chapter 14 Noah had worked extra shifts in the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve simply because he wanted the last day of the year off. When he learned I’d worked that night every year for the past fifteen years, he seemed determined to give me a New Year’s Eve he thought I deserved. I didn’t know how a black-tie affair on the top floor of the Crowne Plaza translated to what I deserved, but it was a fundraiser for the Golisano Children’s Hospital, which was part of the Upstate Medical Center and a cause close to Noah’s heart.
