Scarlett I stepped inside the room and froze at the muffled growl that came from my right where I knew the desk was. My eyes tried to see in the dark and squinting I made out dark shapes. With my throat tight and heart hammering I took another step forward. “Alex…” I whispered. Another step closer and my foot landed on something. Bending down I picked up a bottle, but in the dark I didn't see it was broken lower half and my fingers smarted from the cut, thankful that I was still wearing my flip-flops I rolled the piece on the other side of the room. In the sudden silence the sound of glass rolling on the floor was too loud.  When my foot hit the soft mattress, I pulled out my phone and tapped on the flashlight, illuminating the room. My eyes seeked him out first. He was curled in himself
