Brenda did not try to talk to Elinor again. She quietly sat on the chairs with her mother and waited for someone to speak to them. Raden was as awkward as Elinor. The pair stood by the wall opposite them. The atmosphere was quiet and dramatic. Elinor almost thought something big was about to happen.
The doctor came to check on William again. Elinor watched him avoiding Brenda and her mom, as if avoiding a creditor on the street. At this point, she did not know whom to pity. The doctor who did not know what to do, or Brenda and her mom who were waiting for answers.
