When Elinor woke up, her eyes were swollen and her face looked puffy. How did she know that? She felt it! The way her cheeks puffed up every time she cried was very obvious, even without a mirror. More than that, her reflection on the phone screen was an indicator she did not need.
What amazed her though, was the fact that Raden did not point it out. When she made some movements upon waking, Raden couldn't keep sleeping either. They woke up together but Raden did not say anything about her puffed up face or tortured eyes that were swollen and red.
