Chapter 64: Morning Thaw The morning sun hit the pillows. I opened my eyes to a miracle. Victor was still asleep. His chest rose and fell in a slow and steady rhythm. The harsh lines of exhaustion that had etched themselves around his eyes were gone. His face looked younger. He looked peaceful. I lay there for a long time. I just watched him breathe.
