Chapter 5

Standing in the back of the room I felt my mind go into overdrive. Why would Sam bring the entire pack when we only asked for a few of the members. This could only mean one thing. Before I thought about it I felt my body start to move into a defensive stance. Before I made the full transition Edward placed his hand on my shoulder. "They come in peace, Sam is just curious. That's all." Edward reassured me. Edwards mind reading gift came to great use in times like these. In the next half second my instinct to protect myself and my family fell through. I came out of the slight crouch I was in and stood straight. In the next second I could easily smell the wolfs scent. Since I was used to being around Jake and smelling him it wasn't as repugnant to me as it was the first day. Then they entered through the back door. "Hi boys." Sue said as they entered the room. Charlie looked up from the television and rose to his feet before he took his place at Sue's side. "Hey kiddo." Charlie greeted as he ruffled Seth's hair. Leah came over to Charlie and gave him a feeble smile. "It's nice to see you." She said in a low voice. I looked at Edward, slightly taken back by Leah's reaction. "She is trying to be happy for her mother by accepting Charlie and you into the family. She is trying to move past the prejiduce that she was raised to belief as part of the pack." Edward explained to me. I looked at my father and was surprised to see Leah having, what seemed to be, an animated conversation with my father. "You have changed our lives in so many ways that I would have never thought possible." Edward as he pulled me into his arms and kissed me. "You gave me a daughter, a wife." He chuckled as he nuzzled his nose to mine. "You've even brought the wolves and us to peace with one another." He pressed his lips hungrily to mine. Someone cleared their throat causing me to step away from him and compose myself modestly. My father was looking right at me. If I was a human I would have blushed redder then a raddish but I no longer had blood flowing through my veins so I didn't blush. "Sorry dad." I said, grinning shyly. Charlie took another swig from his beer. "For what? I was just asking you if you wanted to be the maid of honor for my and Sue's wedding." If I was a cartoon my eyes would have grew to the size of saucers and my mouth would have hit the floor. My father was the last person I would expect to push the wedding gig. He must really love Sue and want to do right by her. "Dad, the maid of honor is suppose to help with the wedding details and I really don't feel like I'm the best woman for the job. How about Alice, she loves to plan things." I suggested polietly. Charlie looked to Sue who nodded her head. "That will work." he said before he was joined by Alice who was showing her the dress sketches. I fell into a corner of the room with Edward and listened to Sue and Esme talking to the wolf pack members about the job they needed. They explained about wanting us to come together as a family unit and then brought in the news about the family vacation on the island. After a few concerns Sam gave in, suggesting that maybe a bit of a vacation is what the pack needed. When the discussion had ended it was decided that Paul, Seth, Leah and Jacob were going to the island with Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie, Alice, Esme and Carlisle. Edward and I would be joining them in a few days time with Renesmee, my father, Sue and the remaining members of the wolf pack. I was excited for my father. After 18 years he was finally getting married again. I was gaining two step siblings in the process, both of whom were werewolves. Life couldn't get any more complete from here. It was nearing midnight when my father and Sue left to go home. Minutes after them those that were flying to the island left and then the last of the wolf pack left to go back to the Reservation. "What should we do now that its just us?" Edward asked me. I could think of a few things I'd like to do. In a fifth of a second I moved to straddle Edward and we began kissing heatedly. I wanted him more then anything. Edward lifted me into his strong arms and we moved to the floor. Every inch of my body was explored by him. When the sunlight broke through into the living room I knew it would be a good idea to get dressed appropriately before Renesmee woke up. Raising to my feet I headed upstairs into Alice's bedroom and grabbed a dress from her closet. It was a periwinkle blue with swirls of white here and there. It wasn't too fancy or too feminine for my taste so it didn't bother me. Soon Edward joined me dressed in what seemed to be Carlisle's clothes. I walked over to his side and fixed the collar on his shirt. Then I took his hand into mine and kissed each finger of his. "I love you Edward." I whispered. From upstairs I could hear movement and I knew Renesmee had just waken up. I grinned to Edward before I raced from the second floor to the third. I made it just in time as Renesmee's feet hit the floor. "Hows my angel doing?" I said happily as I lifted my daughter into my arms and spun her around. "Mommy" Renesmee laughed. "I miss you mommy." Renesmee whispered before taking my face between her tiny hands and kissing me. "Mommy missed you too love." I said to her. "And so did daddy." Edward added as he joined us. The three of us headed downstairs to the kitchen to fix Renesmee breakfast. Today meant a normal meal for her. When it came to feeding her we tried to balance out her diet. One day we would have her on a 'vegetarian' diet. Then the following day we would have her eating human food. Today would be the day she got her human food which consisted of a serving of each require food group from the food pyramid. This perticular diet wasn't Renesmee's favorite but she understood that she had to eat it to keep her healthy. "Yes Renesmee you have to eat everything on your plate even if you don't like it. It will make you strong like mommy and daddy." I heard Edward say as he was cutting up vegetable and fruits for what Edward likes to call a 'Pyramid smoothie'. Some foods Renesmee would only eat if purated. I propped my head up with my hand and gazed at my daughter. I couldn't help but smile when I think about how much love went into creating her. Even though it wasn't a planned pregnancy she was still the greatest blessing to ever come into our family. I loved searching her being for recognizable pieces of me and Edward. Her eyes were Edwards favorite because they were mine. Sometimes I imagine what our daughter would look like if she had Edwards green eyes. Of course she would be beautiful because she had Edward as her father. "Me-me" I called my daughter. Renesmee turned her gaze, from her father who was putting the chopped up food into a blender, and looked at me. The neutral expression her face held turned into a smile. "How about tomorrow we try our foods like grandpa Charlie eats." I asked her. For the time that we would be on the island I wouldn't be able to get her the animal blood she would need to keep her satisfied, thirst wise. It was smart to get her used to eating human foods like normal humans so when she started school she would be used to it. Image was one of the most important things when it came keeping a low key in the human world. It would be atleast another few months before we picked up and moved to Alaska. From what I was let aware we would be staying up near our cousins, the Denali's. I was excited to see them again, especially on these terms. Last time we encountered one another it was on a bad note. Renesmee held out her hand and I knew what was next. I moved my face a half an inch in her direction but froze when Edward spoke. "Renesmee said she will try if you try." Edward chuckled as he poured Renesmee's shake into a drinkable cup and placed it on the table. When Renesmee saw the cup infront of her she snuffed and turned up her nose in disgust. I tapped the table. "Drink it up." Renesmee shook her head, pursing her lips. "If you don't eat you will get hungry Renesmee" Edward said. "If you get hungry you will have nothing but this to eat." Still no change. I reached across the table and picked up the cup. I dipped my index finger into the smoothie and ran it across her lip. I watched amused as Renesmee sniffed twice and then tested the liquid on her lip with her tongue. After a few minutes she held out her hand in my direction. "What do you want Renesmee?" I asked. "She wants the smoothie." Edward responded. Renesmee shook her hand impatiently infront of me. "Renesmee can have her drink when she asks for it." I said simply. "I just want to hear her voice, thats all." Renesmee put her hand down and glared at the table. I dipped my finger into the drink again and ran my finger across her lip again. Her reaction was the same except this time around she used her words to ask for the drink. Once the cup was in her hands she began drinking. "What was that about?" Edward asked as he watched me. I looked at him. "She needs to learn to use her words. That's all." I responded. "The wolves are going to be apart of our family and they aren't used to her gift. I just think it'd be easier if she learned to speak." "She is just a child." Edward said to me as he brushed his hand along her bronze curls. "An extraordinary child. She is remarkably smark for her age." I said as I ran my hand along her blushing cheeks. After Renesmee finished her drink she rose to her feet and took it to the sink. I watched, amused, as Renesmee brought out her step-stool and turned on the water before she began washing her dish. When she was finished she placed it in the dish drainer and got down. I looked to Edward and made eye contact. "Like I said, extraordinary." I grinned.
