Sophia’s eyes widened as she heard Eric’s voice. The banging on the door continued.
Steven cursed under his breath, “You take your call because I am sure whoever has been calling isn’t likely to stop while I go and deal with this idiot.” He slid off the stool.
“It’s my dad,” Sophia glanced at her phone as it started ringing once again. He never calls me. He rarely even talks to me, unless it’s to put me in my place when I stand up for myself,” Sophia shrugged as she looked up at Steven.
Steven leaned forward and kissed her forehead. “Talk to him. Let me go and see what Eric wants.”
Sophia nodded and watched as Steven walked towards the front door. She picked her phone up and connected the call when it rang again. “Good morning, Dad,” she said, her voice calm.
