Chapter Two - Trying not to make an idiot of myself

1181 Words
Levi I am trying my best not to make a fool of myself in front of Quinn. It is what I usually do in front of beautiful women. I am weird and awkward. Quinn is stunning with her dark hair and green eyes. And her smile, oh my. I didn’t know what to do when I first opened the door to her. I am surprised I am sitting here with her, having a conversation. She was making it easy for me. A lot of women don’t give me the time of day. I am unsure if Quinn is sitting with me because she wants to or if she thinks she needs to. Either way, I am enjoying my time with her. “Do you have any food? I am hungry. I haven’t eaten since last night.” she asks. “Not really. We need to get a shop in. Sorry.” “It is okay. Do you want to come with me to grab food somewhere? We can stop by the grocery store on the way back?” she suggests. “Don’t you want to wait to see Jared? He shouldn’t be too long?” I thought he would be back by now, but he isn’t. “Can you text him and see how long he will be? Tell him you are planning to order food or something to see if he wants anything?” I nod, take my cell out and shoot him a quick text. Hey. I am going to order food. Are you going to be long, just to see if you want anything? It only takes him a minute to text back. Hey, I won’t be back for a couple of hours. I will get something on the way home, but thanks. I glance up from my screen and towards Quinn, “He says he will be a couple of hours.” “Okay. Can I take a quick shower before we leave? And can you show me where the spare room is, please?” We have been too busy talking. I haven’t even shown her around yet. I smile, standing, “Sure. Follow me.” Quinn jumps to her feet a little too quickly and stumbles. I jump towards her, wrapping my arms around her before she can fall. “Easy.” I laugh. “Sorry. I am clumsy. I am one of those people who trip over nothing and am always banging into things. Thanks for the safe.” Her eyes meet mine, and her beautiful smile grows on her lips. I swallow hard; having her so close to me seems to be getting to me. I hope she isn’t picking up on it. I help steady her and continue leading her to the spare room. “Here it is. You will get clean towels in the closest in the hall.” I smile. Quinn smiles brightly at me, “Thank you. I won’t be long.” I left her to it. I would need to change anyway since I am in loungewear. I head to my bedroom, stripping down. I change into some jeans and a hoodie, fixing my messy hair. I hope Jared doesn’t mind me hanging around with his little sister. It is all innocent, but I know how protective he is over her, especially after everything they have been through. I exit my bedroom, and just as I do, Quinn comes out of the other room. “Hello again,” she giggles. I chuckle, “Yes, hello again. Do you have everything you need?” Quinn nods, “I do. Thank you.” She strolls off towards the bathroom, and I find myself watching after her. I didn’t mean to, but I stole a glance at her ass and the curves of her hips from the back. She is so damn beautiful! I am unsure how it will go having her around all the time. Not like I would ever have a shot with her, but there is a good chance I might already have a little crush on her. Quinn closes the door behind her. I sigh, pull myself together and wait in the living room for her. *** “Ready! Sorry, I took longer than planned, but the shower is amazing.” The sound of Quinn’s voice makes my head shoot up. I had been in my own little world. I swallow hard when my eyes fall on her. She is dressed in pair of denim shorts and a white tank top. Her hair is in a side braid, and she has a little make up on. She didn’t have any on when she appeared here, but with or without it, she is gorgeous. “Hmm.” It is the only sound that comes from my lips. She wiggles her brows at me, “Levi, are you okay?” “Um, yeah, sorry. We should go.” I stammer out. I stand quickly and rush for the front door. I had to put a little distance between us, only for a second, before I did or said something stupid. I hate I am so awkward around women. I am twenty-six years old. I should be by such a stage. “Levi, have I upset you in some way? You couldn’t get away any quicker from me,” she asks, confused when she catches up with me. “No, of course not. Sorry, I made you think that.” I whisper, rubbing the back of my neck. Quinn studies me closely, “Are you sure?” “Positive,” I say as confidently as I can. I hope she believes me because I don’t want to have to tell her the real reason I rushed off. She doesn’t need to know I am attracted to her. She falls silent for a second but finally nods. Thank God! I open the front door, letting her leave first before I follow, locking the door behind us. “Where is good to eat around here?” she asks. “It depends on what you fancy. There is an amazing Italian restaurant close by or a taco bell. There is a couple of cafés too.” Quinn answers without even thinking about it, “Pasta, please.” She beams. “I was sort of hoping you would say that because I am craving pizza.” I would have gone to wherever she wanted. “Great! Lead the way.” She insists, linking her arm with mine. I shudder the moment she touches me. She glances up at me since she is a few inches shorter than my 5’8 height, “Is this alright?” I answer with a nod. I didn’t mind. It isn’t often, or at all, I have a stunning woman like Quinn on my side, even in a friendly manner. I wasn’t expecting my day to be like this. I planned to lock myself in my bedroom, do some work and hide from the real world. But hanging out with Quinn is for sure a better way to spend my time.
