I head out after my shift, looking forward to seeing Levi. I needed a hug. It has been a stressful day; not only work, but I have had a few texts and calls from James—another number I need to block. I glance around and finally spot him, but he isn’t alone. Jared is with him. Weird!
It looks like I won’t be getting my hug after all. I smile and stroll over to them.
“What are you two doing here?” I ask, playing dumb.
“We have come to take you to dinner, little sister.” Jared smiles.
“I thought we were staying in for dinner tonight?” I say and glance at Levi.
“Yes, but we changed our mind. Come on, let’s go.”
Jared is being weird. Have I missed something? I eye him suspiciously, and he smiles brightly at me before he starts to walk away, a few steps in front of Levi and me.
