For a moment while in the air, Nessa wondered how many bones she’d be breaking from the fall. But she landed firmly on her feet, spraying sand in all directions; she felt only slightly affected by the impact. The sand here was darker and felt sinister as she took steady steps towards the trees. The silhouette stood still as though alerted by her presence. Nessa did not take her eyes away from it, feigning confidence but her heart hammered louder with each step that brought her closer to the spirit of the rogue werewolf she was about to confront.
