(Damian) I walked back down the hall. No more standing outside her door. I didn’t knock this time. I opened it. She was sitting on the bed, legs pulled up, arms around them. Her head turned quickly when she saw me. But she didn’t say anything. I stepped in. Closed the door behind me. She didn’t tell me to leave. That had to mean something. I stayed by the door for a second. Then I spoke. “I f****d up.” She didn’t answer. “I shouldn’t have locked you in. I shouldn’t have raised my voice. I got scared. Not of you.
