CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO I walked into the house, pulling my coat off as the warmth in the house wafted through the layers of clothing in my body. The tantalizing smell of chicken greeted my nostrils, my stomach rumbling in acknowledgement of the hunger suddenly pummeling my stomach walls. The couple in the kitchen, making dinner together and just for a split of a second, I almost forgot how mad I was at both of them when my eyes caught sight of the fried pieces of chicken.   “Oh, hey there. We didn’t hear you coming in,” Mum said cheerful. Why did they get to be happy with each other and could not accept the fact there was someone that made me happy too?   Ignoring both of them, I retreated to my room, kicking the shoes off me as I flung the coat on the bed.
