Grace has been quiet since Catherine and her team left. She’s trying not to show it, acting as if it doesn’t affect her. But I know. Her mother and father, the two people that should have loved her without condition, disowning her has hit her hard.
I don’t know how to help her. How to comfort her without hurting her.
I promised to protect her. And twice now, I’ve failed to keep that promise. One, when I failed to stop her from going to the Stanleys Estate.
And two, when the Hartwells disowned her.
I’m realizing now, with glaring clarity, that I’m not as powerful, or resourceful, or capable as I thought I was. My abilities are limited. My protection, not as airtight as I believed. There are factors out of my control.
