#Chapter 43: Healing Through Resistance

1346 Words

Madison’s POV Something is different about the royal hospital from the last time when I visited. I realized that the moment I stepped inside. The air was thick with rejection and neglect. Healers are moving slowly today, following habits instead of urgency. Records were stacked haphazardly, patients waiting far longer than they should have, injuries treated just well enough to avoid death, but not enough to restore dignity. And the moment she saw me, everything changed. The head healer. She wasn’t there when I was here the last time. Some nurses mentioned her, and by their talking I thought she is strict but kind. Because without kindness, one cannot be a healer. But something is wrong here. They are whispering about and most of the eyes are following me like I am some alien creature.
