BECCA put her long black hair into a high ponytail despite from it being wet. She just toweled dry her hair after shower. She finished her guard duty at six this morning. She ended it with a final run around the border together with a couple members of the pack. Currently, Becca was on a school break. She was studying in college. During breaks, she volunteers for guard duty in the pack. Her father allowed it. Her mother has a lot to say about her daughter being with the warriors but with Becca's father as the mentor, the case was close. Besides, they already made a compromise between her studies and warrior duties.  Craving for a hot meal, Becca get $10 from the glass jar on top of the fridge. Her parents put money on that jar before they left for work every day eversince she could remember. Judging from the dishes in the sink her younger brother and only sibling ate the left over cake from her birthday two days ago. She found Jake in the living room. He was sprawled on the couch and watching his favorite cartoons. "Hey, baby boy." Her twelve-year old sibling glared at the television when she said that but did not bother to glance her way. If there is one thing he hates, he do not want to be called ‘baby boy’ especially in the presence of his friends. He said it ain’t ‘cool’. "I'm going out. Call me when something happen." "Whatever." She shrugged and make her way to the front door when Jake called. She turned to him. "Is it true that the alpha's son is coming home?" "I don't know." "I heard mom and dad talking about it." "Maybe he's coming home for good this time." "Aren't you friends?" "We used to be." "I saw him three years ago. His wolf was bigger than Alpha Luke." She smiled seeing the admiration in his eyes for the incoming alpha. Not even starting the alpha position, Remus already claim the appreciation of the young Jackman. "I'll ask around." She made her way out the front door. She was about to go when she called for his attention. "Don't forget to wash the dishes, baby boy. I'll bring pizza." Not waiting for his reply, she close the front door. For sure, her brother made a face as he pushed himself from the couch to clear the dishes he left at the sink. The walk towards the cafeteria will take less than 10 minutes from the cabin. It was Alpha Luke's request to have their cabin built near the center of the pack territory. He parents jobs has to do with it. Her mother is working as a pack doctor. The alpha wanted her mother to be always within reach in case of emergency. Though in werewolf history, there were only a few emergency cases that led to death. However, werewolves were known for having injuries on more than one occasion. If it is not obvious yet, werewolves in general settle things  through brute no matter how small the problem is. Because they knew that they will be as good as new in less than a week except for severe damages. Her father worked as a pack defender.  He was a great warrior. He still is but he focused on training the current warriors. Becca wanted to be like her father. She started to train when she reached thirteen. It was the reason how she met Remus. He found her at the hill doing exercises given by her own father to the incoming warriors.  Instead of mocking her, Remus thought her some moves and they sparred before their training ends. As expected, Remus always win. Three years ago, Remus went home from his training. It was a two-year stint mandatory for incoming alphas like him. It ensures alliance and molds  future alpha on becoming great leaders. Remus only stayed for a month. He left again since he was pursuing a business degree in another university abroad. They were not able to see each other that time. Becca spent the summer in the university where she enrolled. She lost communication with Remus when he left the first time. They had different priorities and keeping in touch is not one of them. "Good morning, Becca." "Hello, Mrs. Bennett. Scrambled eggs and hash brown, please. A cup of hot choco, too." She ordered from the friendly waitress when it was her turn in line. "Coming up, little miss." Becca chuckled when she heard that. Missus Benette called her that since she was eight. She was only a few inches taller that the counter that time. However, at this age, Becca is taller than Mrs. Benette herself. She always accompany her mother in the infirmary when she was younger. She spent most of the time in the office. Whenever she got bored, she ran to the cafeteria for food. Missus Benette indulge her with whatever sweets she wanted. Full and satisfied, Becca made her way to the hill. It will a few minutes of  walk but it will be worth it. The trees will protect her from the blazing heat of the sun. The hill always bring a sense of peace in Becca. The stillness of the place calms her. She even visited the hill on the first day she went from the semester break. Summer still have a month before it change into another season. Another season meant another semester for Becca. She will have more longer nights and more books to read. However, she knew that in the end it will all worth it. Though she wanted to become a warrior like her dad, her parents order her to have her degree in college. Only by then, she will be allowed to do whatever she wanted. Enjoying the wind in her face, she stopped on her track when she saw a guy standing under her tree. She do not have a clear view of the guy’s face but his stance held familiarity. Becca felt a sudden sense of possessiveness. Who dared stand and touched her tree? Yes, she owned that tree. She considered it hers since she has been the only one she knew of that stayed under it for years. Her heart beats fast as she neared. The wind blew stronger. The scent of lemon with a hint of freshly cut wood was sent her way. She sniffed harder. Her eyes widen when the guy under her tree turned towards her. "Mate." They both whispered.
