Trent didn’t exactly know why he’d invited Lizzie to his place for dinner. He’d been honest when he’d told her it was just for dinner, but that didn’t stop him from gazing at her when she wasn’t looking at him. He’d brought in tapas from La Bonita, and he was glad to see Lizzie eating with gusto. She wore jeans and a boatneck top, her shoulders bare. Her hair fell down in loose ringlets, and with the low lighting in his apartment, she looked even more beautiful than usual. He drank his wine and told himself that after they’d eaten, he’d send her home and that would be that. She was pregnant with their child—nothing more, nothing less. He needed to move on. “This is amazing,” Lizzie said as she finished her last bite of warm bruschetta with goat cheese. “Thank you for this.” He grinned.
