Sage was also stoned in front of me. He looked at me with nervous eyes. I don’t know why I feel so disappointed at him. Is it the fact that he’s not yet talking? Is it the fact that he knew about this but still hid this from me?
Words and thoughts are rumbling inside my head. I suddenly lost interest in everything—in this dinner, in being with Sage. All I could think of is Mrs. Black’s words.
“Julia is pregnant?” I asked in disbelief. I don’t know how I blurted it out.
Sage looked at me with pleading eyes. “Please, let me explain…” he said in a sweet but worried tone.
