I tapped my foot against the dirt, my nerves spiralling all over again as Josh and I stood in line, waiting for our turn to pass through the portal.
The guards at the crossing looked bored as hell, but their presence was necessary. Humans had no idea Lunaris Aeternaexisted unless they were mated to a wolf. So, every crossing had to be checked and monitored twenty-four-freaking-seven.
Didn't mean they weren't lazy as s**t about it.
Josh had spent the whole ride keeping me calm, sane—and distracted. But now that we were here, standing in front of the glowing white portal that led straight into my past, the creeping sense of dread was back with a vengeance.
