10. After math.

It has been two days since I met Jaxon but I have not seen him since. I have been hiding out in the main house talking about a plan of attack with Amir and Sebastian. I had confessed everything on the first day to them since a request for a new door came on his table. He did show respect and concern for me but I just dismissed it and went on with my business. His mate Heather did though want to sit down with me and talk but I just brushed it off too. It is day three and I am walking to Amir's office. It took me a long time to get ready today, it feels even heavier on my heart everyday that I am away from him. I called mom yesterday but I did not tell her anything about what happened because I could hear that she was already very nervous. I am wearing simple gym clothes because I am going for the first time in a while with Sebastian in the gym to blow off some steam. I have my hair up in a ponytail and wearing a sports bra, loose t-shirt over and some tight running pants all in deep black. My eyes were very red in the mirror this morning and I can just see the bags start to form under my eyes. The nightmare of my father has been replaced by the nightmare of my mate ripping out my heart and laughing.
Can we please go to mate today?
No Melody, he does not want us and until I can find out why I will stay away from him.
He was just in a bad mood! He wants us! I can feel it, I can feel his wolf calling to me.
Then I smell the faint smell of him, I think I can smell him in the house because some people come into the kitchens after practice for some food. I know he can smell me, I know he knows where I am.
If he was just in a bad mood and wanted to come to us then why is he not here? He can smell me just at much as I can smell him. Even stronger since I live here.
She stayed quiet after that and I just walked into the office.
“Aahh Alpha, I was just about to come get you” Beta Emil says smiling.
I don't let anything come to my face as I keep silent.
“We have decided to throw you a little welcome party tonight, it will be very casual and no formal dress code” Heather says on the other side of the table holding her infant son.
“Yeah we will have a cookout, people will bring food and there will be an open bar”
I do not want to bring any trouble to them so I just nod my head.
“Alright, dress casual, what time?”
“Seven”
“Alright sounds good, I will see you later, I will have a quick workout but then I have a meeting with my board of directors, excuse me Emil walk me out?”
He looks a surprised but then he just nods and walks me out.
"You know Jaxon that lives in the last house on the third block?"
He nods his head.
"How?" I ask, I need to know why he sometimes smells like him.
"He and I work the same shift with the children"
I nod my head and walk away from him, down the hall. I feel the anxiety fill my lungs and I want to skip this entire day and just lay in bed but as Alpha I need to keep my strength up and I need to face my problems. I walk to the gym and the thick smell of sweat hangs in the air but I just push through it and walk to the fighting ring where Sebastian is kicking someone's ass.
“Can I have the next round?” I ask.
Sebastian looks at me from behind a man that he is holding in a neck hold. His face keeps emotionless like mine but I can see the little nod. The man taps out and Sebastian lets him go, the man is fit and could probably hold his own in a fight but he has nothing on the pure Alpha strength that comes with our blood.
“No little lady, I would not want you to get hurt fighting me” the man says walking to the line and drying his forehead that is full of sweat.
“I was not talking to you” I say dryly.
I climb into the ring and start to jump around, usually I would warm up first but right now I just need to fight. Sebastian takes his stance but he is already all sweaty and I will have a hard time getting a good hold on him.
“Wow, wow, wow, I can not in good conscience let this happen” the man says while walking between us.
That however makes Sebastian c***k a little side smile.
“Common man just let it go or she will kick your ass too”
I look at Sebastian very surprised, usually he would just growl or throw some curse words at the man but now he is trying to be nice? What is with this pack?
“Why don't you just go and do some running or stretching with the girls?” the man says, looking at me.
Without saying a word I just walk up to him without letting anything read on my face and I punch him straight in the stomach. He kneels over and goes down, he groans and whines a little but then he throws up in the ring. I sigh and we climb out of the ring because no one can use it now, we walk to the floor and take our stance again there. Sebastian waits for me to make the first move because he knows not to advance on me first then I'd get the upper hand. I charge at him and he goes straight for the punch so I bend a little down but then get a punch in up to his ribcage. He fumbles a step back but then he gets one hand around my lower back and he lifts me up ready to throw me over his shoulder. I let it happen but as soon as I land on the ground I kick his shin and he loses his feet to the side. I am quick to grab his arm and take him in a hold there but he lifts me up and slams me on the ground three times until I hear a ringing in my ears. I let him go so he grabs my ankle with his other hand and throws me to the side. I stand up and he does to. He charges this time but I am ready and block his punch with my forearm but wrap my leg around his leaning one and he goes down again. I jump on him so I straddle him. I am about to punch him in the face and then win when I smell some familiar smell. I get distracted and look up, I spot her right away. Jaxons teen sister is standing not so far away watching with her friends. That distraction costs me the match because Sebastian sits up and grabs my neck. We stand up and I try not to look at her but I feel like I need to say something to her.
“What happened?”
I look up but my eyes betray me and I look right at her. She is so much like her brother, she has the same dirty blonde curly hair and lips.
“Who is that?”
“That is his sister that I must have scared the living hell out of” I answer.
He looks back at the girl but she is not looking at us anymore but she is talking to her friends.
“I should go and talk to her”
He just nods at me and I walk over there, the knot in my stomach is building up with each step. She notices that I am walking to them, her friends start to make some confused looks but when I am standing a few steps away from them I wave for her to come over here. She looks very confused but she walks over to me and I take a deep breath.
“Hi”
“Hi…”
“I just wanted to apologize for my behavior the other night and I wanted to make sure there is no bad blood between us”
She starts to rub her hands together and is looking very uncomfortable.
“My brother told me not to talk to you and that I should stay away from you”
That stung but I keep it way down.
“Alright then I will not approach you again but I just wanted to make sure that you know that I am not some crazy person, I really want to fix what happened”
She looks more calm and she smiles at me, I wonder if they have the same smile… His angry disgusted look flashes in my mind.
“I know my brother is difficult, he has a very righteous mind, the whole family is coming tonight, will you be there?”
I nod my head trying to stay strong.
“Maybe you can try again tonight and things will be okey”
I nod my head again and then just leave her without saying goodbye. I did not workout more because I felt like I just wanted to lay down in my bed. I take a cold shower and then put on the top half of my suit for the meetings with my board. The meeting lasted for about 6 hours and I have to say my mind is fried, I need to go to the store soon so I can buy some alcohol. I just hope they have something decent tonight to drink. I am standing in my room in a dress shirt and a jacket but just underwear on the bottom when Sebastian burst in ready for the party.
“This is really trending the line on casual” he jokes.
I roll my eyes at him.
“I am not going in this jackass, I was finishing a meeting”
“Well then sister you must have made some old men very happy”
Eye Roll again.
“I was sitting the entire time brother, What is with you? You have been so cheerful these past days, do you need more paperwork?”
His time to eyeroll.
“No, I have to say I am just happy to be out of the pack for a little while and I don't know this pack is just very different”
Silence.
“And if I am being honest I have to say I feel a little better being away from mom and her darkness, it really infected on me”
I walk over to him and put my hand on his shoulder.
“That was a lot of feelings for you, do you need to sit down?”
He smiles and brushes my hand off his shoulder.
