Cassandra’s POV Brian’s head snapped up, his grip loosening just enough for me to yank my arm free. I didn’t wait for him to say anything else—I ran, my legs carrying me as fast as they could toward the safety of home. I heard his mocking laughter behind me but didn’t bother to turn around to look. I ran as quickly as I could until I got home. Pushing the door open, my mom's voice rang out, “Cas, you're back home late. Go freshen up and come have your meal.” “Alright, mom,” I replied.
