Brian’s POV
Cassandra stared blankly, her lips trembling like she wanted to say something. Nothing came out.
I sighed, shaking my head. Hopeless.
I leaned closer to her so I could whisper into her ears. “He left because of you.”
Just as those words left my mouth, Cassandra shoved me hard, nearly knocking me off balance, with so much strength that I wouldn’t have believed she had.
“You’re a monster!” She screamed, bursting into tears. “What have I ever done to you? Is it because I spilled my drink on you? That doesn’t make sense, Brian. Just why are you after my peace of mind? Did I maybe hurt you in my past life or something?”
“Or something.” I shrugged, my face devoid of emotions.
Although I could feel her pain, I didn’t bat an eye.
