We entered the living room in silence. They sat around, making themselves at home, save for Andreas who chose to remain standing. My mom sat to my right on the big sofa and Kyle stood to my left. I was nearly hyperventilating. I had a royal in my childhood home’s modest living room. I wasn’t mistaken when I sensed raw power from Anastasia. She didn’t look trained. I wasn’t much better admittedly. But she was more dangerous – far more dangerous. “Are you okay, child?” The guy whose name alone was enough to send shivers running down my spine spoke up. Andreas looked both dangerous and shrouded in mystery. “I’m fine,” I lied through my teeth, like the ignorant fool I was, like the all too prideful vampire I was. “Lying to me so soon?” He cracked a smile, and I could only mirror it. “
