|| Selene's POV ||
My heart raced. My mind gave out. All my excitement from a moment ago was gone.
Only a question fumbled out of my lips, “what did you call me?”
“A cheap w***e. Look how you are on your knees, begging for my dick.” He laughed as if it was amusing. His fingers released my hair.
I stared at him, unable to move.
Surely, I had heard him wrong.
This had to be some twisted joke.
Or perhaps he was drunk.
Slowly, I rose to my feet.
Heat burned across my cheeks, equal parts humiliation and anger.
“Watch your mouth, Rowan,” I said through clenched teeth. “I am the Princess of the North.”
“And that's all you'll ever be.”
He stood as well, his towering frame casting a shadow over me.
“From this day forward, you'll be nothing more than the ghost of a forgotten princess, trapped within the walls of Arkandale.”
My stomach twisted.
“I am your Luna, Rowan.” I lifted my chin despite the hurt clawing at my chest. “Don't forget that. We are bound by a sacred bond and we swore under the moon to protect each other.” I reminded him of the ceremony we just had a few hours back. The one that was supposed to draw both the nations closer.
“A luna? You think you are worthy?” Rowan snapped. His aura enhanced. His lycan was surfacing. His deadly glare fell on me as he strode closer. His hand reached out straight for my throat and before I knew, he slammed me against the wall.
“After what you did to Elra, you think I will ever take you as my luna?” He growled.
I froze on my spot. It had been three years since then… and he was still hung up on Elra? His soul mate who died before his eyes…
“Rowan, I told you for a thousand times… I don't even remember what happened back then!” I protested with a shaky heart.
“You don't remember? Why would you? After all, you killed her!” Rowan yelled. “She is dead because of you… because you didn't protect her.”
“That's not true, Rowan. I would never….” I stammered. Tears rolled down my eyes.
“You did this. You killed her. And I will never f*****g forgive you, Selene.” He growled over my face. His eyes were blazing. His grip tightened on my throat but his words cut me deeper.
“I married you only to torment you, Selene. You will be a queen without a mark, a Luna without an heir.” His eyes were almost silver as if his lycan was taking over. His voice echoed in the bed chamber, “I will never touch you even if you beg me to. I will never mate with you and I will certainly never mark you. This castle will be your hell and you will live every breath in regret for the rest of your life. Mark my damn words.”
Finally he left my throat and turned away. I fell on the floor, coughing vigorously. My heart was pounding. My ears still couldn't believe the words he just said.
“I thought… I thought you loved me…” I whispered.
“Love? Huh!” Rowan laughed like a mad man. “I hate you. I hate you so much that I want to kill you with my own hands and then feed you to the dogs. I want to do it again and again until your soul is broken.”
I could feel a dark aura coming out of him as he spoke. It was pure malice. His eyes told me he wasn't lying.
“I want to f*****g kill you a thousand times, Selene. But it will be easy for you then.” He added.
“So you just need your revenge? That's all? I didn't even do anything!” I mumbled.
My fairytale crumbled into pieces.
“You made Elra suffer and I will make sure to return you ten times of that suffering. No, a hundred times…. Till her soul finds peace.” He barked.
“This is wrong, Rowan. I won’t stay here and tolerate this madness.” I finally collected the courage to speak up. If my lycan, Snow, was here, she would never accept this fate. Neither would I.
“You will rot in this hell, Selene. There's no escape. I will make sure of it!” I heard his words rumbling again.
I felt his suffocating aura pressed down on me one last time before he strode out. I shivered once. My heart thudded. So this was the truth behind the man I loved. All he saw me for was as a murderer of his soul mate. He saw me for a crime I didn't even commit.
Goddess, is that what you write in my fate? You took away my lycan in that horrible accident, and now you bound me to a lycan who wants to kill me!
