|| Selene's POV || His tongue licked my lips as he whispered again, “oh Selene! You are so beautiful.” I shivered. Every touch of his brought a chill down my spine. Every spark only ignited my heat. But the way he reacted yesterday… should I just forgive him? My heart hammered when I suddenly heard Snow, “Selene… stay close to him!” I paused. My world stopped. Three years…. Three damn years since that day… and this was the first time Snow ever talked to me. Her presence was still very weak. Hell, I could barely feel her. ‘Snow! Is that you?’ I said in desperation. My heart hammered under my chest. Or was it just another hallucination? I felt her presence just for a brief second. ‘Seal the bond with him. This is the only way I can come back!’ her voice echoed in the back of my head before it vanished somewhere in the oblivion. ‘Snow… what do you mean?’ I asked. But her presence already vanished. ‘Snow… please… tell me what's going on!’ I begged but only received silence. ‘Snow… don't leave me again…’ My voice choked, my eyes burned. But no reply came. ‘Please, snow… I need you!’ “Are you still debating, my queen?” Rowan's voice brought me back. My eyes moved to him. His hand still caged mine. And his other one moved along my body. I let out a puff of air. The heat coiled in my stomach, pain rose again. Surprisingly, Rowan's touch soothed me. Snow… she wants me to seal the bond? Why? My mind raced. Did I even hear her right? Rowan hated me. Why would he ever mark me? This bond can never be complete without his mark, without his love. But… she said it was the only way she could come back! Damn it! “Why so quiet, Selene?” Rowan said again, licking along my neckline. I felt it to my bones… the sensation, the need for it all doubled. My brain could hardly think. And on top of it all, Snow's message left me in chaos. My eyes only saw the man I loved. His intense gaze filled me in. His hand pinched my waist, making me gasp. Then he tilted my chin up, making me look into his eyes. “Are you still thinking of denying me?” He asked. His gaze intensified. It was barely him anymore, instead there stood his lycan. He was at the verge of shifting completely. As if his lycan was infatuated with me completely and wanted to take over for my sake. “Oh so only you can reject me as you please but I can't say no?” I spat, ignoring my heat, ignoring how badly I wanted him to take me right now. He let go of my hand. The lust I saw a minute ago was gone, replaced by something else completely. His hands slowly cupped my cheek with a weird gentleness. “I never rejected you, Selene… you are the only thing that is tying me to the ground right now.” he said, his eyes softened. Never rejected me? Did he forget last night? All the humiliation, the pain... “What game are you playing, Rowan?” I asked. “No game,” he chuckled. “I will wait till you ask for it.” Then without another word, he took off his shirt and wrapped it around me. “What are you doing?” I asked at his sudden gentleness. He moved, his one hand was at the back of my knees and the other one around my shoulder. Then he picked me up with ease as if I weighed nothing. His eyes bore on me as he said, “carrying you back to the castle. I can't let my queen stay here in this forest in her heat, can I?” “I can walk!” I protested. “I am sure you can use those wobbly legs of yours.” He scoffed. “You… I am fine! Just put me down!” I gritted my teeth, only to find his grip tightening around me. He pulled me closer to his chest. “Sure you are! Fine enough to draw all the werewolves in this forest to you like a moth!” His voice darkened. “And I don't like others seeing what is mine.” I blinked. Didn't he say he hated me? Why would he care? “Hold tight, Selene.” He said again. “Huh?” I blinked and he moved at the same time. Using his speed, we reached the castle in no time. Before I knew it, we were standing at the back of the castle. He looked up. A smile formed on his lips as he jumped up. “Ah! What on earth!” I cursed under my breath, closing my eyes as he jumped up to three floors at least and landed safely on a balcony. “Scared, little wolf?” He remarked as he walked inside the room, making me realise we were inside his bed chamber. “Who are you calling little?” I fought. My cheeks burned. Me jumping five floors vs someone jumping with me in his arms were two completely different scenarios. My heart still hammered. Despite the adrenaline rush, the pain on my stomach was constant. Rowan's eyes changed. “You are burning.” He murmured as he carried me towards the bathroom. "That's none of your business!" I faught. Why was he doing what he was doing? Rowan didn't answer. “What do you want now? Put me down!” I demanded despite my dry mouth. He placed me gently on the huge tub he had in the bathroom. It was probably custom made for a man like him. Tall. Broad. Handsome. His cheekbones looked more prominent now. Would he mind if I pinch his nose once. Or if I kiss him?
