She couldn't leave, I had just found her.
"Josh." Annie said carefully. "She's human, she didn't grow up like us. She probably didn't expect to ever find a mate. Once she sees you as a mate, I'm sure she won't want to leave." she added with a smile. Suddenly, however, her smile faded as if she was remembering something.
"What?" I asked.
"Irma had mentioned that Mary has a lot of respect for us, almost fear. She's hardly ever spoken to anyone from the pack."
I sighed. "And now she's even been physically attacked. How did she get her black eye?"
