Chapter 3

Deimon’s POV: “Mate!” My wolf, Oynx called out in my mind as soon as that woman bumped into my chest. I wasn’t surprised by her as I was expecting her. Her scent of strawberries and pine filled my nostrils, completely intoxicating me in her presence. I remembered that petite face from 3 years ago at the Nascent Moon Pack. She was the same woman and hadn’t changed a bit. Standing behind the coloumn, I watched her as Stacy showed her way to the girls’ dormitory in the nearby building. I crept near her as she headed upstairs, dragging her tiny suitcase along with her. She looked terrified like she didn’t want to be here but that didn’t matter to me. Even though she was my mate, I did not feel anything for her. There was no place for a wolfless she-wolf like her in my life, as I had already been engaged with a powerful she-wolf, Monica. She was going to be my Luna, and I was looking forward to the right time in rejecting and killing that wolfless woman. Suddenly, my nose caught a hold of Kate’s scent once again as she walked downstairs out of her dorm room. I squinted my eyes, puzzled about where she was headed to. Since I did not want to lose her, I hurriedly paced towards her, making sure my focus was fixated on her. Suddenly, my steps came to a dead end, when Kate stopped in her tracks and turned around to face. “A-Are you following me?” She asked with skin turned pale. She was quite shaky and meek in front of my presence. “What did you say?” I asked in a deep stern tone. “Please, I don’t want any trouble. I just want to be alone.” She pleaded, lowering her face and avoiding eye contact with me. I could feel my wolf trying to come out but with much force, I forced him in. “Don’t flatter yourself. Anyone is allowed to walk anywhere in the campus. No one is following you.” I said coldly, with a piercing gaze. I walked away and stood behind the massive columns of the academy. “What the f*ck is wrong with you?” I growled internally. “She’s my mate. What did you think I was going to do?” Onyx replied in retaliation, making me roll my eyes at him. “Do you not remember? She’s the granddaughter of Shadow Moon’s Alpha and they are our enemy. She doesn’t even have a wolf to feel the mate bond with us. Not that it matters anymore, I’m already engaged to Monica and she is going to be my future Luna.” I reminded him with a sharp tone. “It’s not like I can control myself whenever I’m around her. It’s my nature to be with my mate. ” “You better control yourself and keep it in your pants. You better not mess anything up.” I retorted with a solid punch to the column, before focusing my vision on Kate once again. Though I was going to reject her, I was not going to allow her to be free to go into another man’s bed. I clenched my fists just thinking about the moment I found out she was in a relationship with Nash when visiting Nascent Moon Pack. Since I did not want her, no one was going to. I noticed she was heading towards the wooded area next to the campus. In a discrete manner, I followed her, taking care that she did not see me this time. It was just the two of us in the woods, making it increasingly difficult for me to shield my presence from her. Because of that, I skillfully climbed the tall oak tree beside me. Sitting on the branch amidst the sounds of the nocturnal creatures, I fixed my gaze at Kate who continued to advance forward. The height of the tree gave me enough coverage of the area which allowed me to stay put in my spot. “Don’t you dare get started with me again.” I rebuked Oynx as I felt him wanting to take over me again. This time, the force was a lot stronger, demanding a harder pushback from me. Being a wolf, Onyx desired to mate with his mate whether or not I forbade him. I could feel the bones in my body shift as Oynx was breaking free. I groaned in pain and frustration as I tried to suppress him with all my might. He wanted Kate and he wanted her now. “Deimon.” I suddenly heard a feminine voice emit from below the tree. Onyx was distracted and I managed to suppress him, halting the transition from human to my wolf. I noticed Monica standing below as she tucked her blonde hair behind her ears. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be back in your dorm at this time?” I asked, sliding down the tree and dusting myself. “What are you doing here, Deimon? Are you busy following that girl?” she asked, approaching me with her hands crossed against her chest. “Don’t be so surprised. I’ve seen you eyeing that girl since this morning.” she continued after I gave her a shocked expression. I could not believe that she was watching my every move. “Please stay out of this. This is my matter.” I retorted with a growl. I titled my head to look behind Monica and found Kate to have disappeared into the woods. Onyx grew frustrated seeing that his mate was no longer in vision. I could sense that he was in heat, craving his mate’s touch. Monica sighed with her lips curving at the edges. She approached me running her fingers down the side of my cheeks. The moon was shining its light over us as we were in the middle of the woods. “We are going to be married soon, Deimon. There shouldn’t be anything that comes between us. You should stay away from that girl.” She said in a soft gentle tone. I took in a deep breath, inhaling Monica’s sweet scent that replaced Kate’s. “Besides, I’m the only one you need.” She said seductively wrapping her arms around his neck. I could feel the heat inside my body rising as her soft supple skin touched my rough ones. My member cushioned against my pants as she began to rub it gently, arousing me completely. “Let me take care of you, Deimon.” she said, sliding her tongue near my ear. Soon, I was not able to contain myself and grabbed her neck, pressing her lips against mine. I pulled my suitcase up the staircase of the girls' dorm building. I didn't know where I was going since Stacy had left me to figure it out on my own, only giving me the key with the room number on it. The entire building was huge, with hallways as big as the ones in my pack's packhouse. I wandered absentmindedly until I finally found my room. I held onto myself, feeling terrified of the other students in the building. If Deimon was attending the Academy, I could only imagine how dangerous the other students could have been. As I opened the door, I was met with a cozy room adorned with various posters hanging on the wall. There was a messy pile of textbooks on the shelf of a cabinet, and the two beds were covered with cream-colored blankets. I pulled my suitcase inside when suddenly my eyes caught sight of a girl exiting the bathroom. She was pale in color with luscious blonde hair flowing over her shoulders. Her eyes were bright green, adding a pop to her overall appearance. She wore a necklace with a purple stone fixed in it. I gripped the suitcase, taking a step back. Though I didn't know her, I couldn't help but be afraid. My heart was beating out of my chest, fearing the girl would be as merciless as Deimon or pretty much anyone in my pack. Apart from Hilda, there was no one who treated me like a regular person. I was always trash, a mistake in their eyes. "Oh, hello. You must be my new roommate. I'm Anna. And you are?" The girl introduced herself enthusiastically while extending her hand. I flinched, anticipating a hit, as that was all I had experienced in my pack. Sweat dripped over my tear-stained face as anxiety held a strong grip on me. "Whoa, are you okay? You don't look so well," the girl expressed concern. "It's okay. You don't have to say anything if you don't want to. You must be tired. Let me help you settle in," she added, her tone gentle as she took my suitcase from my hand, assisting me with unpacking. Taken aback by her kind gesture, which felt almost foreign to me, I bent my knees, helping her place my clothes and belongings inside the cupboard and on my nightstand. Apart from Hilda, I couldn’t imagine anyone even bothering to look my way. I was always a shadow in my pack, which made this simple attention on me feel out of place. "I'm Kate, a member of the Shadow Moon Pack," I said meekly, starting to feel a bit more relaxed around her. Although I was still on the edge of my seat with her as well, the friendly calm vibes were able to ease myself. "Kate. That's a lovely name. I'm sure we'll be the best of friends soon," she said with a warm smile, further calming my nerves. Pleasantly surprised that a stranger treated me much better than my own people, I opened up to her about everything, including the reason I was sent to the academy. Anna was shocked to hear my story and comforted me by pulling me into a hug. "Oh my god, that sounds horrible. I couldn’t imagine living that way. Don't worry, Kate. I'm sure everything will be fine from now on." she expressed with a concerned tone. I couldn’t help but shed a tear, feeling the warm embrace of someone after such a long time. It was comforting and made me feel safe, something I hadn’t felt in what seemed like forever.
