I hold the ancient spell book against my chest as I walk toward Maeve's little cottage. I need to figure out where this book is from, and I need to figure it out soon. I can't risk Lila or anyone's life for this anymore. Excitement fills me as I near the wooden door, my fingers brushing the aged iron knocker. I knock softly so she isn't alarmed by my intrusion. "Come in, Emma," a voice calls out. Of course she knows I am coming somehow. I enter the cozy front room, scanning the shelves lined with leather-bound books and jars of dried herbs. Maeve sits in an armchair by the fire, regarding me with a gentle smile. "Hello, Emma. I've been expecting you." "You were?" I ask, still shocked. "Yes. What can I do for you?" she asks.
