Darya was feeling incredibly nervous. This wasn’t only a visit to her new mother-in-law. This was delivering terrible news to her new mother-in-law. She was with Kostas for moral support and to lend a shoulder if Mrs. Masalis or Merete needed a shoulder to cry.
Kostas grumbled, “I’m not a good actor. She’s going to know I’m not even remotely sad.”
“You don’t have to pretend to be sad, Kostas. You only need to be empathetic to your mom’s feelings. Her son is still her son despite him being a complete and utter douche bag. She’s going to cry. She’s probably going to cry a lot. Merete too.”
He harumphed and she chuckled at his posture. His arms folded over his chest and his leg twitching with every inch the car pulled closer to his mother’s home.
