Jasper Wynter Is Not Afraid

638 Words
Jasper didn’t think murder solved anything. But he was positive he almost committed premeditated murder when Alaia called him. After telling him Renaldo came into her room last night with wine trying to seduce her, Jasper lost his s**t. He envisioned running the white boy from Ibiza over in his truck, torture by hooking him up to a car battery, or maybe starvation. Lock him somewhere with barely any light and no blood. “Don’t get all worked up.” Alaia told him softly hearing his heartbeat racing over the phone. “I handled it, and when he dries up, I’ll let him know NEVER to do it again.”  Jasper agreed to let Alaia handle it out of the fact that she was the one who knew him. And the vampire in the relationship. But Jasper didn’t like it, this prick was trying to get to his girlfriend. And his girlfriend shouldn’t be the one to tell him to back off. It was supposed to be him. But it was unwise considering he was the human, and Renaldo might not hesitate in “accidently” killing him.  So Jasper left it alone and when he picked Alaia up for school, found Wraith Harbinger sitting on the steps. As the early morning mist blew over the Knight’s property, Wraith could admit that it was indeed beautiful and serene here. As Jasper pulled up in front of the house in his truck, Wraith watched him climb out and wait. “Good morning sir,” Jasper greeted him as he drank coffee from his thermos. “Sleep alright?” Wraith nodded, “I did indeed. You?” Jasper shrugged, “Just fine until my girlfriend called me and told me your son came into her room. With wine and two glasses.” Wraith lit a cigar and then casually shrugged his huge shoulders, “Your girlfriend is incredibly beautiful. You should be used to men trying to approach her, or you should get used to it.” Looking the smaller mortal over challenging, Wraith taunted, “Especially if you wish to stay with her.” Jasper grinned widely, “Oh I don’t plan on going anywhere.” Wraith admired the kid; he didn’t seem intimidated by him. As Wraith stood to see if height and build would do it, Jasper met his gaze confident as he growled, “You do know what happens to mortals in our world don’t you boy?” Jasper laughed mockingly, “If you’re trying to scare me Mr. Harbinger you have the wrong guy.” Wraith jerked back as Jasper shrugged, “I’m not afraid of you. Or death, or even the fact you’re a vampire. I’m annoyed.” Jasper looked him over, “Your son is probably used to getting whatever he wants because he has you backing him. Well know I don’t scare easily, and I love Alaia. So, if it’s really a fight for her he wants, he’ll get it. And I’ll win, because unlike him I have no reason to back down, and every reason to fight.” And Wraith weirdly believed Jasper as he said it, even though the odds were stacked against him. But then Alaia came outside and eagerly ran into Jasper’s arms. Jasper pulled Alaia to his truck and helped her in like a gentleman. When he was rounding the truck, he nodded to Wraith who watched them go. Curious as to how the mortal who seemingly had nothing but his life, had the balls to approach him. Something was off about him, and Wraith wanted to know what it was.
