“How is Asher?” Anita asked Aliyah and the woman sighed.
“Still asleep,” Aliyah smiled sadly, “I don’t even know what could be wrong.”
“Has Naomi been found?”
Aliyah shook her head. “I doubt if she ever would be. With the mating mark impotent, no one can find her. And what’s more, her witch aunt is making sure it remains that way.”
“I can’t believe she is not Asher’s mate. Fated, I mean.”
Aliyah shrugged.
“Do you think she is the reason Asher is like that?”
Aliyah exhaled, “he fought the rogues for her, disobeyed Damien for her. I think he feels more for her than he’s admitting to himself.”
Anita smiled. “Once I asked him if he loved her but he couldn’t answer, said he didn’t know. Between you and I, I think he does. He just doesn’t want to admit it to himself.”
