We pulled in at the restaurant and I helped Juniper from the car. Rick looked a little worried. He’d watched as Juniper was practically mobbed all night, but hadn’t done anything. Every time one of us got close, she waved us away. I sent Rick and Kenny in ahead of us and pulled Juniper into a hug. She needed comfort.
“You’re so quiet, sweet girl. Did that wear you out? Do you want to go home instead?” I asked.
