Michael went to visit one of his companies in California, and on his way out, he unexpectedly ran into the woman he had been searching for years, Samantha.
Transfixed by her eyes, he tried to get her attention, but his instincts took over, and he grabbed her waist.
Samantha's reaction was swift and fierce. With a resounding crack, her hand connected with his face, leaving a stinging imprint."How dare you touch me inappropriately?" Samantha thundered.
The sound of the slap drew everyone's attention in the vicinity. All eyes turned to the scene unfolding before them. Michael's face burned with anger as he stumbled backwards, his hand instinctively cradling his cheek. The whispers and gasps only added to his embarrassment. " Oh no, she's in trouble now."
"I've seen him destroy careers with a single phone call, her life is finished," The murmurs grew louder.
Samantha was called for the interview, she stormed out of the hallway, her heart racing with fear. The murmurs of the onlookers threatened to overwhelm her but she took in a deep breath and entered the interview room.
Michael watched her go, his brows slightly creased. "What's with the pretence?" He said inwardly, recalling the night they shared. He noticed the eyes of others fixed on him, and he shouted, "What are you looking at?"
Meanwhile, Samantha rushed into the interview room, her face flushed from the earlier encounter.
"Samantha Reynolds?" The interviewer asked, Samantha's heart skipped a bit as she approached him, "Yes?"
She handed him her CV, but before he took a look, he declared, "Congratulations, You are hired."
Samantha's eyes widened, her mind racing with questions. "But... you didn't interview me like others," she stammered.
The interviewer noticed her confusion and offered a hint of smile, " It was an order from the higher-ups, Ma'am. You'd work as the CEO's assistant."
"CEO?" Samantha shouted shockingly. She applied for a clerk position, never expecting a sudden promotion.
She lept, excitement coursing through her veins. This meant she could finally move her twin babies to a better school and she'd no longer rely on Amanda's income alone.
The interviewer smiled, "You can start work tomorrow. You'll meet your boss then."
Samantha walked out of the office, her shoulders held high. As Samantha exited the company's building, her twin babies' faces lit up with excitement. "Mummy!" They chimed in unison.
Nicholas and Nolan dropped their hands from Amanda's grasp and ran towards Samantha, their little legs moving quickly.
Samantha's face broke into a smile; she knelt to embrace them. "Sweetie, what are you doing outside in the cold?" Samantha asked, hugging them tightly.
"We wanted to wish you good luck, Mummy," Nicholas exclaimed."Mummy is a superhuman, I know she got the job," Nolan added.
Samantha's face glowed with a warm smile as she planted a kiss on their foreheads. "Thanks, sweeties. You both are my luck charm. What on earth can I do without you?"
Amanda glanced at her watch and nodded apologetically. "I have to run, guys; I have a meeting to attend." She gave Samantha a quick smile and a thumbs up before hurrying off towards her car.
Samantha disengaged from the hug and whispered, "It's risky to let them out."
Amanda turned back, walking backwards towards the car. "They insisted, Samantha! You know I couldn't resist those cute faces!" She chuckled and waved before driving off.
Just then, Nolan and Nicholas wiggled free from Samantha's grasp and ran towards the man emerging from the company building - Michael Kane.
"Daddy!" They chimed in unison, their legs moving swiftly.
Michael Kane's face broke into a warm smile as he opened his arms, and the kids hurtled into his embrace. "Daddy, I knew I'd find you here!" Nolan exclaimed. "I hope you'll live with us from now on," Nicholas added, his eyes shining with hope.
Michael chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners, and ruffled their hair. "Alright, kids. First, let's go find your mum."
As he looked up, his gaze met Samantha's, and she was already sprinting towards them. Her face was a picture of alarm, and she grabbed Nolan and Nicholas's arms, pulling them away from Michael with a force that made them stumble.
"You pervert, what do you think you're doing to my kids?" Samantha demanded, her voice low and menacing, as she positioned herself between Michael and the children, her eyes blazing with protectiveness.
"You pervert, what do you think you're doing to my kids?" Samantha demanded, her voice low and menacing, as she positioned herself between Michael and the children, her eyes blazing with protectiveness.
"Kids?" Michael asked, confusion etched on his face. He recalled Xander mentioning Samantha's miscarriage years ago and her subsequent relationship with an Italian man. He bent down, facing the twins, "How old are you, supermen?" he asked, trying to gauge the truth.
"Enough!" Samantha ordered, her voice firm, as she stood her ground between Michael and the babies. "If you don't stop stalking us, I'll call the cops on you," she threatened, her pointed finger trembling.
Michael burst into a short laughter. "Why don't you let me prove myself?" he asked, his eyes locked on Samantha's.
Samantha's eyebrows creased slightly, her eyes fixed intently on him. "Are you one of Emily's men?" she wondered aloud.
Just then, Michael's ringtone pierced the air. He hesitated for a moment before answering. "Sir, your fiancée tried to kill herself," a voice on the other end said.
Michael frowned and ended the call. He looked straight into Samantha's eyes, he only wanted to have a conversation with Samantha.
Michael's face clouded as he ended the call. He gazed at Samantha, his eyes searching for a spark of recognition. "Don't you remember me?" he asked, his voice gentle, despite the intensity in his eyes.
Samantha's expression twisted in disgust, her eyes flashing with anger. "Get away from us, you creep!" she spat, her voice low and menacing. "I don't know what kind of sick game you're playing, but leave us alone!"
Samantha's eyes widened in outrage, her face reddening. "You think a simple trick like that will make me remember you? You're just a perv who can't take no for an answer!" She took a step back, her hands tightening around the kids' arms as if shielding them from Michael's gaze.
The kids, sensing their mother's distress, clung to her legs, their small faces itched with worry. "Mummy, stop yelling at Daddy," Nicholas said softly, his voice trembling.
Samantha took in a deep breath and said, "Alright, let's go home sweeties. "
But the twins resisted, their arms tightening around her legs. "No, we aren't going without Daddy," Nolan said, his voice firm.
