KRISTEN ZOEY I woke up with a throbbing headache but something felt off, I just felt like I wasn’t myself, as I struggled to get out of bed, I realized I was not alone, I was with him Reece, and then the previous night’s events dawned on me, I had just had s*x with my lifetime crush, but not the outcome I was expecting or had hoped for, I wanted it to be under different circumstances but what had happened had already happened and there was no going back. Reece was snoring silently beside me, I stared at him for a few seconds before I struggled to get out of his grip, our clothes were sprawled all over the floor, so I walked stealthily making sure I made no sound that would wake him up as I tried to pick one by one, I put on my clothes but I old find my knickers…I could just do well without them so I looked over my back for the last time before I tiptoed out of the room and downstairs to the main door, luckily enough the door wasn’t locked. I wanted to hail a cab but my phone was not connected, it was around four in the morning. “Are you going somewhere?” a voice startled me from behind and I stopped in my tracks, I hoped it wasn’t Reece snooping on me. “Who are you and what do you want from me?” I asked already tensed up. “I should be asking you the same thing, who are you and what are you doing here?” he shot back and I sighed. “I don’t think I should be answering that anyway can you please let me out, I am trying to hail a cab and find my way home,” I said and he smiled. “Oh I now get it…” he said as he smiled sheepishly, “get what?” I asked confused, “you are one of the girls my boss usually brings home but you are different, what are you running from and why are you going home so early, did he chase you or something?” he asked and in as much as his statement stung a little bit I put on a brave face. “Oh yeah? I might be but not entirely like other girls he brings over, so are there any cabs around here? I would like to go home.” I said avoiding the topic he had just brought up. “Oh that, I don’t think you will get any cab today, seems like it is not your lucky day,” he said and I sighed deeply, “then where else can I get a cab home?” I asked and he sighed. “I know a friend who could take you…” he said and I cut him through, “Just call him or give me his number, and I will call him, I don’t want anyone finding me here, I would like to go home and get some sleep.” “Okay, let me call him for you and don’t worry he will take you home, he has been helping a lot of girls who show by and would like to go home, I got you.” He said with a mischievous smile on his face and I just sighed, I wasn’t in the mood to argue with him, as I waited for his friend to show up, I tried so much not to engage in any kind of talk with him. About ten minutes later, a nice car pulled up and I walked towards it, “hey man, one of your girls?” the guy in the driver’s seat, probably his friend, said and I cursed internally. “No man, I wish she was but just drop her home, she would like to get home and maybe we could chat later.” He said as he opened the door for me, “Where to ma’am?” “Take me to 9th street, and don’t call me ma’am, makes me look older than I already am,” I said after buckling up and he started the car, the drive was a silent one, thank God he wasn’t much of a talkative person because I didn’t feel like talking to anyone that night, I took out my phone and I had several messages from Keasha and Katie about my whereabouts, I texted both of them to tell them that I was safe and nothing bad had happened to me but typical Keisha called immediately. “Girl, it is almost five in the morning, why are you calling me at this time of the night?” “First it is not at night but almost morning and second I am calling you because I have sent you like a thousand messages but you weren’t responding and you didn’t answer any of my calls, are you okay?” “Yes I am totally fine, why wouldn’t I be fine, I wasn't answering any of your calls or texts because my phone was in silent mode and I was kind of busy, I will call you once I get home,” I said. “What do you mean by when you get home, aren’t you home already?” “No, I am on my way home right now and don’t ask me where I am coming from right now because I am not going to tell you anything,” I said with a smile tugged on my lips as I recalled the night’s events. “Seems like someone had fun today, I can’t wait for the details, how far until you get here?” “What do you mean by how far until I get there, wait are you at my place?” I asked surprised. “That is not something to be surprised about; I was driving to your place before you decided to finally answer my calls and texts.” “You are funny anyway I will see you in a few.” “Okay see you soon.” She said and hung up, after a few more minutes the car stopped right in front of my apartment. “We are here.” He said and I nodded as I looked through my purse for money. “How much for the trip?” I asked and he smiled. “No need to pay, James is a good friend of mine and I usually help him in one way or two.” “Who is James and what the hell are you talking about?” “I am talking about my friend James, the one who called me to pick you up.” He said trying to explain and I sighed deeply before I took a one hundred dollar note and handed it to him. “I am sorry to burst your bubble but I don’t even know that friend of yours or whatever you call him, here is your money and you can keep change,” I said as I got out of the car. “Okay my bad, you can call me Ryan by the way and here is my card in case you need any cab services, I will be at your service in case you need any of my help,” he said and gave me his card, I thought of not taking it but then decided to just take it. “Okay thank you Ryan I will call you in case I need you but right now I think I should go,” I said he nodded and then walked straight to my apartment, the lights were on and I figured out Keasha was already in the house, I walked to the door and walked myself in since it was already opened, Keasha was seated on the couch with a glass of wine in her hands. “Remind me again to change my locks, you are snooping way too much,” I said as I removed my heels and walked to where she was seated and plopped myself on the couch right next to her “You will change that later but first I need the details of what happened between you and that cut crush of yours, Reece Walker.” She said with a cheeky smile on her face but I wasn’t buying it, I just wanted to freshen up and go to bed already ”First he is not my crush and second there is no way I am telling you s**t because nothing happened thirdly I am going to freshen up and get some sleep, wait how come you are still active and not sleepy?” “It is because we don’t sleep on a Friday night and you know well that we don’t go to work on Saturday but don’t worry, I will be waiting for you right here because I need the details, you can’t just vanish on our girl’s day out and you act as nothing happened.” She said and I sighed. “Okay why don’t you let me get some sleep then you and I can talk about how our nights were. I am sure you have a lot to tell me because you couldn’t just have driven all the way here to hear what I have to tell you, I am sure you have something you want to share?” “Yeah, of course, I have some interesting news I think you would like to hear.” She said with a wink I smiled, stood up from the couch and started walking towards the stairs but before I could walk further, the doorbell rang, “I will check who is at the door.” I said as I walked towards the door, I peeped through the keyhole and it was Ryan, I sighed deeply before I opened the door. “What do you want again?” I asked bored. “I am sorry to bother you but I brought you this, you left it in the backseat.” He said while handing me my sunglasses I smiled before I took them “You are funny, so you came all the way here to just bring me my sunglasses, anyway thank you,” I thanked him still surprised by his action. “Okay, I think I should be on my way now.” “Oh yeah, you should be on your way.” I insisted and he stared at me for a few seconds before he turned on his heels and walked away. “Who was that?” Keasha asked when I walked back into the house “The cab guy, he brought my glasses, I will go freshen up then we can catch up later,” I said and walked upstairs to my room.
