52. The Elder's speech

1492 Words

"I pity all of you," he started, and he sounded like he really did.  "You have all come here, thinking you are so much better than me, twisting my actions, condemning my choices.  You made me sound like a crazy old man, like a demented elderly animal.  You think you have all the answers, and all the solutions to your problems, but you know nothing.  You don't have my experiences, you haven't lived through the same things I have.  In the times of my parents, things were really different.  Our kind used to rule vast areas of land, we didn't have to cower to other races, we could even war with the wolves without fear.  In my grandparent's time, only the strongest got mates.  They fought for their females, and everyone knew their place.  The males fought, the females took care of the children.
