43. Finding my way back

I started walking, and I felt the hallway was stretching, it was like I wasn't moving at all, but after what felt like an eternity I reached the stairs.  I climbed them, and found a closed door.  For a moment I feared it would be locked, but I could easily open it.  I emerged into a big kitchen.  There were a couple of women cleaning and prepping for dinner.  I could see a door to the outside, and from one of the windows I could see part of a bright red car.   I realized I had left the bag, all I had taken were the keys to the car, and I hoped no one would ask about it.  I walked straight to the door to a chorus of goodbyes and wishes of safe travel.  I ignored them, and did my best not to start running.  When I finally reached the car and managed to get inside I felt faint, and realized
