Rowan: The edges of my body burned with the power that had been awakened by the sacrifices of my father and grandfather. Oxnera looked at me, a wicked smile on both of her faces; she knew what h.e.l.l I was about to rain down. I walked up the stairs that had led me to loss. I closed the puzzle and made my way out of the castle. The world around me looked as dark as I felt on the inside. It felt as wrong as the loss of its two former kings. I stood basking in the weight of my loss, and then I shifted into my monster, hoping that among the other two beings within me, we could carry that weight.
