Colby drove me as promised to the address Aaron texted me. What we pulled up to was a mansion by any standard, nearly as large as Alpha House. This was on the outskirts of Wintercrest though, out in the forest.
As Colby walked me up the steps to the front door, I could hear the River Umbria rushing behind the house.
“This is awfully far removed from civilization,” Colby muttered as I rang the doorbell.
“It’s peaceful,” I argued.
“Until he kills you and buries you at an unknown spot somewhere on his acres upon acres of land.”
The front door opened before I had a chance to chastise Colby.
“Nova,” Aaron breathed, his face full of excitement. He tried to hide the disappointment as his gaze flicked to Colby. “And you brought a friend.”
