Chapter Fifty-Four Erik and Jia walked through the smoking hole, covering each other and then the opposite directions, ready to fire. They’d expected heavy resistance but found an empty hallway with open doorways lining it. The only sound was their footsteps echoing down the empty space. They slowed to a stop and listened.
