Carys grumbles as I carry her onto the jet but she’s half asleep again already. “You can sleep I promise. Let’s get you inside.” It’s three am and we are about to leave on our surprise trip. Carys had not been easy to wake up and I pretty much dressed her in her sleep. She curls more into me and I kiss her temple.
After walking her in, I place her in the big bed. Made sure I chose this jet on purpose so she can sleep comfortably. The captain comes to speak with me and I thank him for being willing to leave so early.
“You’re my boss sir. You say wheels up and we go as long as it’s safe.” He grins.
“Yes, but you had to leave your family for this and now that I have one, I understand how hard that might be. So I never want to forget to thank you.”
