I haven’t talked to Oliver since that incident in my apartment. But every single day, he sends something for me as his apology. Most days, I get roses. Others I get coffee, milkshake, donut, a cow stuffed toy, among others. Elian came to talk to me a week later. He told me what Oliver did before and what he did now. “I remember his hostility when he threatened that he’ll make me lose my job. Then he did, and I was so angry. Last Tuesday, he came to me to apologize! Apologize! Then he offered me a job on his company. I started immediately. Went with him to the company and even presented the work contract to me personally. We did talk about you, though. How he understands now that what he did was wrong.” “He should. Well, I’m glad it worked out well for you. How’s your pregnant girlfriend?” “Cindy? She’s alright now. She’s been emotional since I lost my job, but she’s feeling better now. I’ll take her here tomorrow. She would love to meet you.” I could only imagine what he went through. Two weeks of having no job and having a pregnant girlfriend to worry about. Somehow, I’m grateful. Then I remember it was Oliver’s fault in the first place. “The pay’s better, I guess that’s something. And the workload is fixed, no need for overtime. I’ll have time to make plans with Cindy and take her out on dates.” “Tell me, does your girlfriend get jealous of me?” It took him a few minutes to contemplate. “Maybe? You’re one of the things I usually talk to her about, but she knows it’s only because you’re a new friend and you’ve been helpful with your advices to us.” “Glad your girlfriend is understanding.” Unlike a certain someone. Elian stared at me for a while. “I think your man is just feeling possessive.” I snorted at his statement. “I’m not a possession. I own myself.” And he’s not my man, alright? “I think it’s his first time falling in love. Give him a chance. He has a lot to learn. And I can tell he likes you a lot.” “Well, you can tell him that. He’s old enough to learn on his own.” I’m still feeling vengeful. I didn’t like how he decided he can choose my friends for me. I stood up and turned to go home. “See you tomorrow, then?” “Yes, please. I’ll bring Cindy.” Now, this is a real man in love, if I say so myself.
