"It seems that we are mates."
"How? What do you mean?" He asks looking confused.
We sit on the chairs at the small dining table as I explain to him.
I lift my hand up and show him my ring.
"My mother gave me this before I left her. It is enchanted and hides my scales. The enchantment is so strong that it also suppresses my powers a bit and apparently, it has been doing more than that. It's also been suppressing the mate bond."
He stares at my hand without saying anything.
"I took it off to swim and didn't put it on when you came back..." I take a finger to my ring and start sliding it off.
