I stop walking. Did I hear him tell me that he didn't want to let me go? I take a look in his direction, and he was still clearing through the bushes to make a pathway for me to walk. "Did you say something just now?" I ask, unable to let it go. He pauses and looks back at me over his shoulder; there is a guarded look of longing on his face before he turns back to what he was doing.
