“O—oh my god! W—what’s happening?” Lin shrieked. She was still inside their car when the chaos just suddenly unfolded. Students were screaming, and everyone just began attacking each other. They are biting one another as if hungry wolves ready to devour their friends. Lin was terrified. Her driver was trembling on their seat. She could almost feel her nerves jolting her awake to run, but she just couldn’t. Both of them are paralyzed with fear. “O—oh my god! That’s Margaux!” Her eyes widened upon seeing one of her friends. Margaux Rosswell, the Bright University Council’s VP. Her cheeks are soaked with tears. Her eyes screamed the horror she witnessed inside. Her usual tidy uniform was dishevelled. Anxiety covered her once brought blue orbs. “I—I need to save her!” Lin gulps. “Open the door, Ren!” “M—miss Lin?” The old man hesitated. “Open the f*****g damn door!” But Ren shook his head. “I can’t, I’m sorry, it’s dangerous outside, Miss Lin—” “Then f*****g do something!” She cried. “I’m sorry! I—I don’t know how—” “P—please…” She was almost begging, and crying, screaming her lungs. It was only a relief that their car is soundproof, or the flesh-eaters would already making their way to devour both of them. Margaux bloodcurdling wail from outside caught Lin’s attention. There, she was free to watch helplessly her friend getting torn by those monstrous beings. Her arms and legs are gnawed flesh by flesh as they fill their hunger. “O—oh god.” Lin covered her mouth. She was disgusted at the sight before her. “T—This can’t be happening.” Disbelief was written all over her face. “Miss Lin—” Ren gasped. She followed his line of sight only for the horrors to double. On top of their building, the students keep falling. They are hitting the ground head-first, crushing their skulls, but what was terrifying was regardless of their injury and broken bones, they still manage to get up. However, being alive after their falls means they are no longer human. “This is crazy…” CRASH. But she wasn’t yet finished when something fell on top of their car. Ren and Lin looked at each other. They are both sweating coldly because of fear, and then it happens. A loud groan resonated as the roof of her car suddenly collapse to the side. “s**t!” Lin cursed. Her eyes are wide when faced with a student, who looks grotesque, covered by shards of glass and blood. “Miss Lin, let me help—!” But help was too late already. With Lin’s scream and the scent they had, a few flesh-eaters that was much closer to where they are began heading in their direction, and unfortunately Ren was grabbed on the hand by a female student. For an instance, the driver was frozen with terror until one broke the window shield beside him aiming for his neck with a bite. “A—AAAAAAAH! It hurts!” Ren tried his might to free himself, but it was futile. One by one, they began biting his arms and his face. “M—miss Lin! H—help me, please!” “I’m sorry.” Lin was breathing hard. In just a mere second, she joins the chaos as she runs. The road has been covered by filth. Corpses lay there lifelessly missing one part or almost half of their faces. There are still screams. Gunshots rang. Lin felt helpless. She had nowhere to go. She didn’t know what was going on until she was tackled to the ground. “Arggh!” It was Margaux, whose eyes are dilated with utter hunger. “M—margaux!” She was stunned, crying for her name as if it was enough to turn her back to normal. “it’s me! It’s me Lin!” But she continues her assault, when… BLAG. Something or more like someone hit her on the head. Blood spilt on Lin’s face. Repulse, she couldn’t help herself but vomit upon seeing her friend being decapitated by— “R—Rebecca?!” “The one and only.” The latter clicked her tongue upon throwing the dismembered head. “Y—you killed her.” “Yes, before she killed you. Tch.” Rebecca holds the b****y bat on her shoulder. “And if you don’t want3d to die, come with me or get bitten by those bastards.” She added. What the latter said shoots a shiver on her spine. Left with no choice, Rebecca was her best option to live…. or either on her hands, Lin would die, because she saw how ruthless she could become and how she wouldn’t hesitate to bash that bat on her head if suddenly she became one of those beings. Flesh eaters. She thought. “Where are we heading?” Cyron asked the General, who was giving the command as the entire headquarters began to shut down. “Here.” When they turn on the corner, they saw an empty room that looks most likely like a living room of a usual household. “Are you kidding me?” Ryota was the first one to react. “Do you want to lock ourselves there until the flesh-eaters came here knocking that glass over there? Yeah, what a great idea.” “General?” Cyron trailed off. “I am not that stupid.” The General trotted. Once inside, he flipped the table upside down, and there appeared some buttons on its inner layer. “Whoa.” The pair was surprised. General William clicked a few before the table automatically move to the side, being replaced by an old fashion elevator that was made of metals and chains. “Let’s go.” General William was the first one to hop in. “Are we really going to ride that one?” Cyron hesitated. “If you wanted to live, you might consider this option.” General William sarcastically uttered. “H—help! General!” One of the soldiers runs. When they looked back, he was being chased by hordes, it was his comrades who became a flesh-eater himself. “s**t!” The General cursed aloud. He pulled his g*n and began aiming at his head. “What are you doing?” Seeing what was yet to happen, Cyron couldn’t just stand there and watch. “I am not going to let him suffer.” “No!” BANG. “You just killed him!” Cyron was mad. “I did before he turned as one.” “What?” “He was bitten.” General William pointed out. “And I’m no fool that he may not become one in any minute, now get the f**k here or I’ll leave you behind.” Left with no choice, Cyron and Ryota ride the elevator. When the table turned back again to its original position, the hordes manage to break through the glass door as they escaped. “Where it is heading—” “Why do you have so many questions, young man?” General William’s patience was running short. “Because we couldn’t trust you, after imprisoning us on that cell.” Cyron eyed him. “Now well me, where are you taking us?” The General only rolled his eyes, but he answered, “We have an underground laboratory, and there, you can explain why are you on the site, where the meteorite crashed, and why does it seem like you have every knowledge about this virus.” He gave them a suspicious look. “Because I am starting to suspect that you have something to do with it.” “We didn’t.” Cyron’s face hardened. “It isn’t us, but the meteorite you neglected, General—you and your people.” That shut William’s mouth. He wouldn’t admit it, but what the young man said was true. Their scientist reassured them, and every single citizen believed them not until this chaotic incident. It did not end there, because their very own President to satisfy himself turned a blind eye like a fool, but fate had never been kind to him as well. They get eaten and devoured until their last breath as they perish. When they arrived, General William alongside the trio was told to disinfect in fear that they might have caught the same virus. “I’m sorry, General.” A woman’s voice speaks on the intercom as it echoed. “But we must follow the protocol to immediately attend, whether there is a carrier of the virus among you.” “I fully understand.” As they stood there, a few men wearing a white hazmat suits appeared. They began covering the elevator, and afterwards, a white air blew from different directions toward them. Cyron closed his eyes. “This is f*****g cold.” Ryota shuddered. After a moment, it stops. “Now, if you may—” The woman continues. “Please, change your clothes. There are new pairs enough for the four of you, General.” As she said that, one man cautiously walked closer to offer them a box. And it was true enough that there are new pairs, which perfectly suit them. After making sure that they are not infected, a woman appeared to greet them. “General.” It is the owner of the voice. “Doctor Larissa.” General William nodded his head in recognition. “Is it really worst up there?” She looks anxious. “A disaster.” His grim face already told her enough. “Oh my god.” She covered her mouth. “I have one more question.” She gulps. “The President…?” “Dead. The newly elected President died, Larissa.” “O—oh god!—” “And this three—” General William glanced on his shoulder. “—will tell us what happened.” With that said, there are sudden noises. The ground where the three were standing shook until irons began automatically creating a cell that conformed to them. “You just didn’t…” Cyron’s eyes widened. “s**t!” They backed away as it encloses them. “You tricked us!” “Sorry lads.” General William chuckled. “I am not yet done interrogating the three of you, and we cannot have civilians roaming around.” “You lying bastard!” Ryota’s jaw clenched. But the General turned his back on them, totally ignoring the three. “Now, how the f**k we are going to escape here.” Ryota was frustrated. “Calm down, we might find a way here.” Cyron’s forehead creased. He wasn’t supposed to be down here, but outside saving some lives, especially searching whether she was there alive. Yumi. When an idea suddenly struck him. How can he forget? Yumi’s father is one of the scientists, who died a few years back as they get attacked by flesh-eaters. Only that he was there 10 years from the future, and in the past… Dr. Tamaguchi Siasoco was probably alive. He might not remember Cyron, but he is their only hope for escape. At that exact moment, a man walked closer. “Now, I am afraid that I must need your blood samples to make sure that you are not really infected.” A familiar voice caught his attention. When Cyron looked back, he could tell how luck was on their side as of the moment. The man ahead of them was no more than Yumi’s father himself!
