CHAPTER 20: MOTHER-IN-LAW “Sir?” A knock coming from his office door made Gustav to lifted his head from his papers. “Yes?” “You have a visitor.” Amber peered down, and have him an anxious smile. “And I believe it doesn’t matter whether you are expecting her or not, that’s what she said—” “Of course, my son knows that I don’t need any appointment, Miss.” Behind Amber, a woman pushed open the door. It shows a middle age aristocrat clad in a fancy dress. She looks to be about on her 50’w, but her face doesn’t look that old. She have a pale skin, a reddish lips and a soft features that match Gustav’s eyes and his nose. They look alike, but how can they not be, when it is no other than his own mother? Juliet Rexene Salvador. “Mom.” Gustav instantly frowns, while signalling Amber to leave the room. “What are you doing here?” “Aren’t you at least happy to see me here, my dear boy?” Juliet pursed her lips. “You know, I’ve travelled almost 6000 kilometres from State just so I could see you, and here you are, already scolding your mother.” “I knew it.” Gustav rubs his temples as if her presence already means trouble. “Just get to the point, Mom. What are you really doing here?” “You have a sharp eye, don’t you?” Juliet soon giggles before she took her seat to the sofa place inside his office. “Well, I just wanted to know if I have a grandson already, or a granddaughter—” “Mom!” Gustav castigated his mother. “What?” Juliet frowns at him. “Isn’t it normal that I should ask? You and Italia have been married for quite some time, so is it only normal that you have a son or a daughter, it doesn’t matter really.” Gustav blew out a loud breathe. How he can he forgot that when the marriage between him and Italia happened, their family were both present, and in no time, his mother told him personally that she would be expecting a heir. But not like this. Not when he was still trying to fix that mess he have done. How can he tell her that Italia filed for divorce? It would certainly gave is mother a heart attack, since she likes Italia very much...more than Ana. “But can’t you at least notify us about your arrival?” Gustav sigh. He have nothing to do with his mom being here, but he must talk to Italia before Juliet Salvador did or all hell would break loose. “Oh, quit treating me as if I’ll get lost.” Juliet waved her hand, unbothered. But the truth is, she almost had gotten herself lost! Who wouldn’t be? It’s been years since she was here and meet Gustav’s father. Decades, where they decided to settle in America, while Gustav went back to build his own empire. He build his company with his name, not because he was a Salvador. By that, Juliet was so proud of his eldest. “But getting back, where’s Italia? Where can I meet her?” Excitement laced through her voice. She couldn’t help, but smile remember that girl. That lovely girl, so kind, and was far more different than the woman that tried to wooed Gustav. “She’s a home.” Gustav lied through his teeth. “Oh really? Then I can definitely visit her this instant—!” “I don’t think so, Mom.” Gustav’s face hardened. The sudden changes from his expression caught Juliet’s attention. “Why not? What’s wrong about visiting my daughter in law?” She raised her eyebrows in confusion. “It is because she was still recovering from trauma.” This time, Gustav didn’t lied. “Trauma?” Juliet’s eyes widened. “Why? What happened?” “Some powerful men abducted her—” “WHAT?! AND YOU LET THAT HAPPEN?!” For an instant, the soft expression on her face changes into anger. Her cheek are red. Her nose flared with a gruesome promises. “I’M GOING TO MAKE THOSE BASTARDS PAY!” “This is what I am talking about.” Gustav felt like he is going to have a headache. If he is capable of some things, then his mother probably can do most of it. She isn’t a Salvador for nothing, and knowing that Italia has been hurt, she will not stop until satisfied that they had punish those who dared harm her. “She’s already okay, Mom. She was just resting, so she can regain her strength back.” Not knowing that Italia was wooed by Zamiel and Jane as of the moment. “And what about the bastard? Have you punish them, Gustav?” Juliet squinted her eyes threateningly. “As you know, I won’t take no for an answer and I am sure you are well aware of it.” “I have them paid—” “Terribly?” She asked. “Yes.” “Good, because I still wanted to get my hands on them, if I can.” Juliet let out a low breathe. She was trying to keep her cool. “But since Italia was resting, I won’t bother her for the meantime, just send my regards to her.” She soon stood up. “For now, I’ll enjoy my stay here.” With that said, Juliet stood up, leaving Gustav who have a long explanation to do once he go home. “This is...tiring.” “O—oh my god! I never knew that clubs are like this!” Italia was amazed. It was her first time, and instantly, she was love-struck by the sight. Jane’s club are full, filled with teens, men and women, who are dancing on the stage as if it was the beat moment of their life. For Italia this time, it was. It is one of the things she longs as a teenager before, but knowing how strict her dad was, she never have the chance to experience this enjoyment. “I told you!” Jane laughs loudly, she screamed above the music. Italia giggles, while Zamiel watched the pair. Only that, he isn’t alone eyeing Italia this time. A pair of blue eyes seems to focus on her, in spite of the music. But the expression on it isn’t mesmerise nor awe, but something far more different. “Italia Mercedes.” The man chuckled. “What a lovely name for a b***h like you.”
