We all look at the hairpin on the ground. The screaming and hissing are almost sounding human. Demetri has jumped and is standing behind Claudia, holding her in front of him as a shield. I look at the hairpin as the flame is busy devouring it. It is almost gone, but the screaming and hissing do not stop. I walk over and look at the pin. It almost sounds like it is cursing at us. As long as it does not start chanting, I do not care. I am curious as to what is trapped inside the hairpin. Did the old witch that gave it to Catherina transfer her soul into the pin? Was she mad at Catherina for giving her soul away to another witch? Now her soul is burning. Is she trying to transfer again into another object, and if she can, what?
