Carlos kept telling himself that his only concern was ensuring Ella didn't meet an untimely end—or worse, fall into some disaster—before he took over the Harrison family. It had nothing to do with losing her—nothing at all! He simply didn't want John breathing down his neck. The moment Ella heard she could go out, her pout melted into a beaming smile that lit up the room. "Really? I can go out?" Carlos, as always, found himself utterly enchanted by her radiant grin. "Yes, you can go out, but bodyguards will tag along, and you've got to be back by the agreed time..." "Yes, yes! I know, I know! Thank you, Carlos!" Before he could finish, she eagerly thrust the absurd dinosaur headpiece into his hands with a giggle.
