Maya’s breath hitched as Tay’s warm hands settled on her shoulders, grounding her, yet every inch of her skin felt like it was on fire. She tried to steady herself, her mind racing from the intense pull of his presence. She wanted to speak, to say anything, but her throat felt tight, her heart pounding so loud she wondered if he could hear it. Tay’s voice was calm yet laced with an undertone of authority. “Let’s ease the hum of these runes, shall we?” His tone was matter-of-fact, yet the glint in his eyes betrayed the command he held over her. She managed a flustered nod, barely able to meet his gaze as he gently guided her toward the bed. He circled around her, his touch lingering on her shoulders before he moved behind her, his fingers brushing down her back to the zipper of her dress.
