Chapter 18It was almost one in the morning and standing by the wall of metal mailboxes in the dimly lit entrance of his building, Jude texted Harris to let him know he was safe and sound. He was surprised when Harris immediately responded. He’d hoped Harris would be asleep. He read Harris’s short message. Hello my love. Call me if you like…Before you go to bed. I missed you today. Can’t sleep. The bed is too big without you. H. Guilt bit the back of his throat and Jude pushed the phone into his pocket. He rode the brown carpeted elevator up to his floor, and then later, passing doors on his way to his place, kept his eyes on the streaked linoleum floor.
