After seeing Veronica run out of my mother's office, I sighed and stood up from the guest chair as I set out to return to my class.
"Mia," Mom called my name softly as she walked back to meet me.
"I am so sorry about how Veronica treated you. I already sent for a new shirt for you as compensation. You should forgive her okay…?" Mom spoke to me guiltily as she held my hand in hers, with guilt in her eyes.
Sighing, I replied, "Alright, Mom. I have forgiven Veronica, but it's best she keep her distance from me. I think she's just jealous because she does not like me. So why does she have to pick on me?"
"Shush?" Mom hushed me and said, "It's fine. I will talk to my brother, Beta Blake, to speak to his daughter. Because Lana cannot do it alone."
